This is my altar, which is ALWAYS a work-in-progress. At the center, is Baphomet resting upon the skull box. He is wearing a 9 pointed star, a sacred number at the very heart of our existence. If any natural number is multiplied by 9, and the digits of the answer are repeatedly added until it is just one digit, the sum will always be 9. Numbers are alive. They help create reality, form, and symmetry to our universe, galaxy, and solar system, which all seem to revolve around the number 9. This number comes up everywhere, and is thus, embedded within the fabric of the universe itself. The number 9 seems to be a reminder that everything is interconnected, and thus, appears to convey a grand design of some kind, whether supernatural or not. But, back to the altar: to the right of Baphomet is an African voodoo doll. It was given to me during my travels in Africa by a local shaman, and is considered, consecrated.Further right, we have Hecate, the Greek goddess of witchcraft. To the left of Baphomet is Thoth. The Egyptian god of magick, who is revered in Thelema. Behind him, on the wall, is a Thelemic banner with the magickal inscription upon it: “Do What Thou Wilt.” And the ceramic skull serves as both incense dispenser and reminder that life is short, so make of it what you will. I have Celtic ancestry, so to the left of Thoth is the horned, Celtic god, Cernunnos. The altar cloth up front has the unicursal hexigram displayed upon it, which is a sacred symbol in Thelema. Eventually, I plan to include a picture of Aleister Crowley upon the altar. The athame laid upon the altar cloth is of an Egyptian design, which is an homage to the original magicians of ancient Egypt. -- source link
