jullathemonster:hellagayronanlynch:thefingerfuckingfemalefury:thetrippytrip:Julia, a Muppet with autism, makes her debut appearance on Sesame Street. “She does things just a little differently, in a…Julia sort of way.”It’s great that Sesame Street has designed a character with autism. I think the character will help kids understand autism in a better way and encourage acceptance. Adults can try and explain things like autism to a child, but it can be difficult. I grew up with Sesame Street, I’m glad the show is still helping kids learn and grow! Media representation always matters, thank you Sesame Street for still teaching us.Sesame Street is wonderful and a GIFT <3My coworker’s son has autism and he watches Sesame Street. She said one day her son was talking about his friend Julia and how great she was. My coworker assumed it was someone in his class until she was watching Sesame Street and Julia came on screen. If you don’t think children with autism see things on tv and try and connect with them you’re wrong. This representation is that best thing Sesame Street has ever done.I almost started crying, to see me representated! And the character even has my name! Im so warm and fuzzy inside, all my love goes to sesame street -- source link
