mushroomgay: Waltham Forest, London, UK, September 2020Wooly milkcap (Lactarius torminosus)The pale pink concentric caps of these mushrooms, and the fluffy ‘beards’ around the edge make these mushrooms reasonably easy to identify, though during very wet spells the fibrous rim can wash off, leaving it barely visible, as in the final specimen, photographed after a night of rain, and showing the latex that is exuded when the gills are damaged. These mushrooms are poisonous unless very carefully prepared - some guides suggest salting and pickling it, but most accept it as poisonous and to be avoided. -- source link
