huuusfm:bravo44:lordaardvarksfm:Woo financial transparency.Woo depressing figures.Dude, shut the fuck up. This is the second time you bitched about that. You make as much as I do as a full time EMT. If you dont know how to live off of that, you don’t know how to live. My patreon has zero pledges despite the some 1500 combined followers from here and DA, and you dont see me bitching because I dont get many commission requests. If this is an April fools joke, its not funny. Stop trying to shame your followers into donating and appreciate what you have.Have to agree here, it’s ridiculous that you’re complaining about this, a lot of other people have it a lot worse and you’re complaining about people fake pledging. Shouldn’t that maybe say something about you and your patreon?OKAY; assuming this isn’t an April Fool’s post (because if it is, bravo, you done trolled me good son)…Don’t take this personally L.A. but come on man, as creators, our fans don’t owe us shit; period. I say this as someone who has a very similar number of bogus pledges/exploiters. Focusing on the raw pledged amount is just asinine. You’ve been around in the scene longer than almost everyone else, so please start acting like it and show a bit of dignity for yourself and some respect for your fans.I know for a fact that a lot of the fans are in legitimately tight financial circumstances, and you should be flattered that many of them, even despite that, still choose to donate a portion of their tiny disposable income on a creator whose work they enjoy or admire. My own rent, utility bills, petrol and food for both me and my cat are paid for by the good graces and generosity of my supporters, and the only thing I EVER care about is making sure that they get value and quality for their money. I suspect I would earn a lot less if I also wasted so much of my creative time writing self-aggrandizing essays in an effort to guilt people into throwing me funding. The fans - people who are paying you, are counting on you to create more of the kind of content they want. They’re not paying you turn your Patreon page into a sob-story charity.A very small number of us are fortunate enough to earn a living from doing this. There are a lot of other artists out there who, quite frankly are earning a fraction of what the quality of their work would justify on merit alone. Focus on improving the quality and content of your work, rather than wasting time trying to bully people into giving you money. If you focus on your work instead of whining, you’ll make a lot more progress.Focus on your fans and stop talking about yourself so much all the time, and I promise you things will work out for the better. -- source link
