burquillos: loadbearingdrywall: burquillos: I watched a video about abandoned malls and they explained one of the reasons people love them is because we experience the same feelings the romantics felt when they wrote about standing atop a giant glacier alone, sublime and triumph. A big institution, capitalism, dies and we stand in it’s remains triumphant. This comic is basically trying to channel that energy. Also it features me dissing on the whitening industry in the philippines. In this universe they’ve been decimated like they deserve to be. bruh i know plants takin over malls is good aestethic but what’s going to be far more useful for them is conversion into housing blocks I actually tried to show that at the end. You can see people beginning to settle down with food, fire and tents (along with the plants because I really like the idea they can coexist with the plants too). They’ll grow into a nice little community in the future, I hope. I’ll try to make it read more next time but that was my intent too :D -- source link
