Things that SHOULD have scared me shitless when I was little … but didn’t Yeah, I was weird as a kid. 1. Dinosaurs. More specifically animated carnivorous ones that were actually pretty scary, like the ones in Land Before Time and Fantasia. Watched both of those multiple times, just thought they were cool. 2. The Borg. I’ve been watching Star Trek since I was really young, and nothing in it scared me … not even the Borg, which are arguably the scariest thing in the earlier serieses. I didn’t watch First Contact til I was older, but I watched a lot of TNG. Shrug. 3. It. Yeah I dunno why, but when I saw bits of this miniseries on TV I think in middle school, it was more thrilling and chilling to me than scary. I still feel that way, but I KNOW I saw it much younger than most kids should. Perhaps that’s why I dislike clowns but I was never frightened by them … or really enjoy horror about clowns either. They don’t scare me but I just hate them aesthetically. 4. Indiana Jones and the Melting Face. What i now consider to be one of the greatest special effects in movie history … was pretty damn scary. And I’m sure I’ve been watching Raiders of the Lost Ark from a young age, but the face-melting thing never really scarred me. Weirdly enough I was more freaked out by the snake crawling out of the mummy’s mouth, and the other Nazi dude whose face suddenly shrivels up. 5. There was a lot of shit in the Neverending Story that should have scared a kid. I even remember my mom warning me, the first time it came on TV and I saw it, that it might scare me. But it didn’t - not the giant turtle, not the demonic wolf - frankly I was more freaked out by the idea of the Southern Oracle, and the tension in that part of the movie was perfect - but I wasn’t scared by any of it, even being like 10. -- source link
