krismichelle429: klbwriting: damianimated: At Target this lady told her son he couldn’t have a Wonder Woman doll because “that’s for girls” and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid. This drives me nuts considering I have a son. For Halloween he is picking his costume and he so far has come up with 3 choices: a witch (not a wizard a witch), Princess Poppy from Trolls, or Everest (a female husky from Paw Patrol) and guess what? He will pick whichever he wants with no argument from me or my husband because he can like characters too. Long story short: punishing boys for admiring female characters is an efficient way to teach boys that respecting women is morally wrong. -- source link
