elsewheregreen:“Whodunit”. Wanda Gag, USA, 1944. Lithograph. British Museum, London. “The title invites the viewer to solve a bizarre mystery. Gág depicts a murder scene on a farm, with the corpse’s feet protruding from the chicken coop, the carcass of a hen floating in the water trough, and a fish stabbed ritualistically by a dagger. The upraised arm brandishing a kerosene lamp makes reference to Gág’s private sexual symbolism. This lithograph was printed a year after Gág’s death by Theodore Cuno in Philadelphia, in an edition of 35; no lifetime impressions are known.” -- source link
