I went to grab your arm and tell you not to leave, I was upset, and crying, my voice breaking with anger, trying to cover for my sadness, but when I threw my hand out, it’s movements confident in catching the edge of your coat, your arm, your skin…confident that I would wrap you up, and cradle your long limbs between my older darker hands, like a baby bird who had fallen from it’s home; I felt air instead.
