Landestrost Castle (Neustadt am Rübenberge,Germany).This is one of the oldest and largest castles inthe Hanover Region of Lower Saxony, and was built between 1573 and1584 by Duke Eric II of Brunswick-Lüneberg. The town and the castlewere integrated into fortifications, and developed into a typical16th-centuryurban fortress. The castle was the administrative headquarters ofthe Duke, as well as his representative residence.The Duke renamed the town Landestrost in 1574, butthe name change was reversed after his death in 1584. -- source link
