Perhaps you ask what wonders this inscription describes, given its length?It’s a fucking building contract for a wall.No, I’m not kidding. It seems to be a municipal decree, but that still means that somebody said “Hm what should we do with this contract oh how about IMMORTALIZE IT IN MARBLE FUCK YEAH”Which is great because it’s really good evidence for how building contracts were carried out in ancient Italy! But at the same time it’s a slab of marble that says something along the lines of “The wall shall be six feet wide, no more, no less.” The inscription includes the dimensions of the wall, the building material, extra instructions for the construction, and even how much to pay the contractors.All in fucking marble. -- source link
