thewitchoftheforest: ✨ W + C I ✨ Until I started being more open about suffering from fibromyalgia, chronic daily migraines and depression, I wasn’t aware of how many Witches and Pagans suffer from chronic pain and illness too. I’ve posted this before but I think it’s so important to be open and talk about this issue because it’s a reminder that you aren’t struggling alone. These are just some of the things I’ve learned practicing Witchcraft while suffering with fibromyalgia and chronic daily migraines over the last 14 years. Any illness or pain can really impact on your energy levels and also your ability to remember all the information about the Craft you want to keep in your mind. I find brain fog (or fibro fog) sometimes stops me remembering or recalling the simplest piece of information and it can get frustrating, which can in turn make it even harder to remember. I think the thing I’ve discovered is to try (and it’s hard) to not put myself under pressure and get angry with myself. So what if I have to check something in a book for the 5th time in a day because at that time, I’m struggling. It’s not that I don’t know it (and that’s the frustrating part) so I have to learn to go with the flow of how I’m physically feeling that day. I’ve learnt over the years that spells don’t have to be elaborate or complex to be powerful, and as I’m trying to get used to living with a chronic illness, I’ve found that I favour simplicity in my practice because a lot of the time, that’s all I’m capable of. And that’s ok! Don’t push yourself to do spells or rituals when you feel low on energy or your energy feels unbalanced as the results could be unpredictable. Just be kind to yourself where you’re at now! You’re not alone!
