1962: It all began at the TOMBSTONE® Tap, a bar located across from a graveyard in Medford, WI. The owner, Joe “Pep” Simek was recovering from a broken leg (a mishap from dancing the “Peppermint Twist”) and started making pizzas to pass the time. He served the first TOMBSTONE® pizza on July 4th, 1962 and was an instant success.1963: Other bar owners were asking for TOMBSTONE® Pizza to sell in their own establishments. The owners delivered the pizzas in a 1959 Cadillac.1966: Simek developed the sun and cactus logo and began advertising with the first slogan “An Italian pizza with a Western name.”1969: First TOMBSTONE® plant built (moved production out of the TOMBSTONE® Tap) on Hwy 13.1990: “What Do You Want on Your TOMBSTONE® ” advertising campaign began running.1994: TOMBSTONE® goes national and is available across the US.Today: TOMBSTONE® continues to provide the taste that everyone agrees on - consistently good, unmistakable flavor with just the right combination of sauce, cheese, crust and toppings -- source link
