fatgirlswholoveskinnyguys: my husband, Joe and I met in September of 2009 in Job Corps. I had just turned 18 that July and he had just turned 20 earlier that month. We had mutual friends and had seen each other around campus but never really talked. when we both got into the CNA program we started talking and hit it off right away. I was in a relationship at the time, but broke it off the day I started talking to Joe; there was something about him that made me realize it wasn’t meant to be with the other guy. I was never the one to approach a guy and I somehow got the courage to talk to him first. He came home with me to my parents house that weekend and made it official October 1, 2009. November 24th he proposed with no ring on our last night in Job Corps. November 28th, he proposed again with a $10 ring from Walmart in our friend’s driveway. Then, December 24th of that SAME year, we’re laying in bed and he starts playing our song “A Million Kisses” by Romance On A Rocketship on my iPod and when it comes to the part “I got a ring down in my pocket” he pulls a ring box out from under the blanket & pauses the music and gives me my “official” ring. We moved to Louisiana January of 2010, moved back in June that same year and decided we were going to plan our wedding in 2 months. we got married September 18, 2010 & I got pregnant in January 2011. I had our son, Landon Thomas October 18, 2011 and we ended up separating for 2 1/1 months shortly after that. BUT in February of 2012, we got back together and have been together ever since. This picture isn’t the best, but it’s our “Christmas” photo from this past Christmas, it was our first Christmas as a real family. I know, we moved extremely fast, but neither of us are slow paced people. I was diagnosed with depression at 13 a self-mutilator for 5 years and I attempted suicide once. If I could go back and tell my 13-year-old self what happens in the next 8 years, I wouldn’t have believed it for a second. We’ve been through a lot, but he’s not only my husband, he’s my best friend, lover & other half. Joe is my soul mate & I wouldn’t trade any of this for the world. I’m proof that a shy, chubby girl does get the guy and can have a happily ever after. This is such an amazing story. We are very glad that you are once again a united family. Thank for submitting this truly inspiring story of your lives. Hooray for fat girls and skinny guys. — -- source link
