Where: Mary King’s Close Alright, I KNOW. one picture. Terrible depiction of the place, but what can I do. They didn’t allow photography! and I didn’t want to be fraudulent and take pictures from the internet. I guess i could have shown you the gift shop, but let’s get real. no one cares about that. This tour was actually really really interesting. I had a free day in Edinburgh and I was just walking around and walked by it. I went in, and they had open spaces for 10 minutes later and I ended up going on the tour. There were just 4 of us, so it was cool and more personalized. The tour guide even showed up stuff that wasn’t on the tour because there were so few of us. They do recommend that you pre-book because it does get quite busy, which i noticed from the fatass line that formed while i was on my actual tour. So i’m pretty sure that having a four person tour was pretty goddamn rare. The tour takes you underground into this old close. “Close” is neighborhood or alleyway in scottish. So it was like basically how and where people lived back in the day of the Plague. I kind of got scared that I would catch the plague down there, but I’m still kicking and i’m pretty sure they wouldn’t let people in if there was a threat of contamination. Or maybe… It was pretty spooky, actually. I mean, i’m a baby when it comes to ghost stuff, but I def got scared! It has this creepy vibe and then she tells you about little annie, this ghost child people from all over the world bring toys to, and it freaked me out!! But that’s okay, I smiled back at her when i left the room, so hopefully she’s like… not mad at me, or something. -- source link
