Where: National Gallery of Scotland I realized that I have become kind of a museum snob. But, i mean, c'mon! I have been thoroughly spoiled by Italy. The Vatican, the Uffizi. Like you just can’t compare, sorry. God forbid i ever make it to the Louvre. But still, the National Gallery had some pretty cool pieces that I recognized from my past art history classes. It was cool being able to see a painting that I was familiar with; it’s more of a connection i think when you know something about the work or the artist. I guess that’s why people take Art History classes in the first place. I was a little disappointed because there was a Botticelli room with about.. one botticelli and it was smaller than i thought it would be. But there were some “legendary” pieces i was glad that I got to see. Further, there was a painting called “View of Florence” and i damn near almost started crying when i saw it. I could see my litte neighborhood! It was crazy. I think that I’ll always have that feeling whenever i spot the duomo or palazzo vecchio especially. It’s all very cool. But that being said, i think the national gallery is def worth looking at. If you have an extra 45 minutes (it only takes that long) it’s super easy to get to, and it’s actually pretty interesting. The Scottish Gallery downstairs has some cool pieces too, so check that out. -- source link
