Where: Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Alright.. for some stunning scenery and nice change of pace from city life, take a hike (Literally, it’s a hike) up Arthur’s Seat. It is so absolutely beautiful, and if you’re lucky, it won’t be raining too much. Aurthur’s seat is i think, the remains of a volcano that was once there, so of course, you know i was all about it. I love volcanos. It’s one of those places, that i always talk about, where you can just do some soulsearching and “find yourself”. Personally I think i might have actually lost my goddamn mind, sat in the meadow for a few, sang sad songs, cried a little, and then, feeling sorry for myself, finally worked up the strength to stand up and continue walking back to the Queens Hollyrood Palace. Thanks for rubbing that one in, Queen. I was walking around alone, pathetically, aiming for the ice cream van at the bottom of the mountain, when i saw a little ruin peaking out from around mountain side. Now, I think you may have picked up on this, but i have a weird thing for ruins. Some weird, symbolic/spiritual thing. Like, in times of storms, ruins will literally heal my life and bring me peace. I know i sound like a nutcase, like.. who cares it’s a old crumbling building. But i seriously have some psycho connection with them, and it’s like getting me a little emotional, so I probably should just stop now while I’m ahead. Okay, now that you understand a little bit about that. Probably don’t really understand, but atleast you now know. I’m gonna tell you, when i saw that little brick wall peeking out, my whole perspective changed. I put some pep in my step and double-timed it to the little hill it was on. And it turned out to be some little abandoned chapel. I smiled. Because ruins comfort me. And i felt better. So thank you Arthur for planting your fatass on this mountain and guiding me there. -- source link
