As an asexual adult, I can’t overstate how much this scene resonated with me. Cyd is young and discovering sex for the first time and she assumes her Aunt Miranda–unmarried, never been married, single–must necessarily be wanting for something because her life lacks a sexual relationship. Miranda gently but firmly shuts her down, pointing out to Cyd that not everyone needs sex to be happy. If Cyd does, that’s fine, but Miranda doesn’t, and that’s also fine. I thought it was handled so beautifully. Whether Miranda is asexual or not, it’s nice to see a refutation of the idea that anyone who is not having sex must wish they were. -- source link
