carsthatnevermadeitetc:Horch 853 Special Roadster, 1938, by Erdmann & Rossi. Designed to compete with the Mercedes-Benz 540K roadster, the Horch employed a 5 litre DOHC straight 8 that traced its history back to 1926, when chief engineer Paul Daimler designed Germany’s first eight-cylinder production engine. In all 5 853 Special Roadsters were built, each was subtly different, including one with a bullet-proof windshield for Nazi leader Herman Göring though he opted for a Mercedes instead. -- source link
