xxgothchatonxx: It would be delightful to report that they reached the nursery in time. But then, there would be no story. So, this is one of my favourite scenes of the whole film. It’s beautifully shot and edited, but it also adds an extra layer of tragedy and anxiety to this version of Peter Pan. For instance, look at the Disney version where George and Mary are out all night and when they come home, it’s basically like “it was all a dream”. But in this version, it not only shows “yes this really did happen”, it also emphasises the love and devotion George and Mary have for their children. They leave an exclusive party - and in this situation, their social reputation is pretty screwed and it’s implied that them leaving that night would be the final nail in the coffin - and hurry home because they love their children so much. Also remember that the last time we saw George with regards to Wendy, he was going off at her. And his sons think that he hates them. But now here he is sprinting through the hallways - a HUGE “proper gentleman” no-no - because he thinks something has happened to his children. This scene is unbelievable. -- source link
