In honor of this month I’m dropping a little knowledge on some unknown black creatives first being the legendary Diana Sands (1934-1974) this talented and beautiful Blacktress got her big break as Beneatha in Raisin In The Sun in the original stage and film production, she was nominated for a Tony for her role as Doris in The Owl and The Pussycat. She would go on to guest star in many hit television shows of the 1960s she would be nominated twice for a Tony as well as an emmy for her work, due to her losing battle with cancer she would give up the lead in Claudine co starring James Earl Jones to her bestie Diahann Carol, who would be nominated for an Oscar for her performance…Sadly Ms. Sands passed away September 21 1974 at the 40 years old -- source link
