Jim doesn’t know what is going to happen to him once he does this, but he does know that there won’t be any going back to how things were- as Merlin told him. add in that he could lose his family through this, and well….Jim is an incredibly brave kid, but he’s still a kid, and what he’s about to do here was a life changing decision. his family is on the other side of the door and telling him not to, to open the door, that he’s not alone, and more than once he looked so tempted to give in and go back to them.of course, that’s not what happened, because Jim put the world’s needs above his own wants, and the fact that he held his resolution even in the face of his fear was a big part of what made this scene so breathtaking to me. -- source link
