lady-arryn:costume appreciation:Chandramukhi’s costumes from Devdas(costumes by Abu Jani, Sandeep Khosla, Neeta Lulla and Reza Shariffi) Madhuri Dixit alias Chandramukhi had two looks to portray. That of the courtesan, a glamorous epitome of desire for the world and the real Chandramukhi whom she would show to a selected few. For the former she is draped in rich vibrant Indian hues, exquisite Benares sarees, brocades and silks. On the other hand, Chandramukhi at her home is always shown in fine mulmul skirts as well as cotton skirts with gota work and ghungroos teamed with a small embroidered cholis. Two of the costumes designed for Chandramukhi weighing 30 kilos and 16 kilos respectively are an intricate celebration of creativity. Her enthralling look compliments the inner beauty of the devoted but unfulfilled courtesan. Thus fueling their prediction that the audience will be left with a feeling of “what a waste of a beautiful life”. -- source link
