The deepest need of every person is to know God. Going to church is a start in getting to know God— or it can become like a monument.Have you made going to church like a monument?Have you made following Jesus like a monument? No passion, no energy, no participation. Sitting on the sidelines, waiting for something to happen. Many live in a state of nostalgia. A precious memory of the good ole days, “when God was moving.”God is always moving— it’s us who get stuck in the same place. Our purpose & meaning of life is to know God intimately & to worship & serve Him for His glory & for the sake of the world.Church is a community of people who have been formed out of a direct encounter with God that compels us to find, to follow, to engage, to worship & to experience intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. The church is a movement that exists for God’s glory & God’s mission alone—not ours. God has not called you to be a caretaker or a consumer of a monument, but to be an active part of His movement. Movements move so get moving.Acts 17 : 24 . 30God made the world & everything in it, & since He is Lord of heaven & earth, He doesn’t live in man-made temples…He Himself gives life & breath to everything, & satisfies every need there is. He created all the people of the world…His purpose in all of this is that they should seek after God, to know Him, to find Him—though He is not far from any one of us.For in Him we live & move & exist! As one of your own poets says it, ‘We are the sons & daughters of God.’ If this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol made by men from gold or silver or chipped from stone. God tolerated our past ignorance about these things, but now He commands everyone to put away idols & worship only Him.#letsgetmoving #inHimwelivemoveandexist #riseup # #vineyardfullerton -- source link
