therantygeek: rainaramsay:thejackalhasarrived:LEVERAGE, 4.08 This is genuinely one of my favorite Eliot moments, because it shows so clearly that a) he really likes hitting people, and b) he has an absolutely rock solid code about who he is and isn’t allowed to hit. The guy runs into him; Eliot just stands there. The guy takes a swing; Eliot dodges. His job is to stop the guy leaving, and if he stays in this room and is ineffective in combat, then Eliot is NOT ALLOWED to hit him. So when the guy punches him in the face, he SMILES. NOW he’s allowed to hit him! You can see the same thing in the episode that opens with some people hassling a mom and daughter: Eliot pulls the bad guys away, and stands between them and their victims, and then STOPS. And waits. He doesn’t say anything, but you can just hear him thinking “Try ‘n’ touch ‘em again, asshole. …. no, seriously, please try. Cuz the rules say I’m not allowed to hit you again unless you do, and I REALLY want to hit you again.“ (Sadly for Eliot, those bad guys are smarter than this bad guy, and run away. Sigh.)It’s just a wonderful little character detail, and I love it. (of course SOME people, like Jim Sterling, engage this proportional response simply by existing, but still…) -- source link
