Billy Ocean’s music video to “Loverboy” (November 1984) featured an august collection of aliens, echoing the famous Mos Eisley cantina scene from Star Wars (1977), complete with fake Jawas. The video opens with an alien rider on horseback, on his way to a bar built inside a cave. There he fancies a pretty female, shoots her boyfriend, and kidnaps her; they then ride off into the sunset together. Romantic.A few years ago I visited the location where the video was filmed (I’m funny that way): Durdle Door in Dorset, England (last image). My dog—a walking, barking pop music encyclopedia —accompanied me, and revealed that Tears for Fears also recorded a video here: “Shout”, also released in November 1984. And six years later, Cliff Richard graced the place with his presence to shoot a video for his Christmas song, “Saviour’s Day”.“Pop music history everywhere you look,” my dog remarked, sniffing another dog’s butt. -- source link
