Mandala of Self Taken literally, the components of this digital collage have been cut out from photo
Mandala of Self Taken literally, the components of this digital collage have been cut out from photos of myself and arranged in a mandala. My inspiration behind this piece was drawn from the hyper-detailed devotional work of Tibetan monks and fractal spirals, both of which softly underlay my composition. This is the base for a central spiral of hair waves, a ring of eyes, a closed square of legs, an open square of mouths, four different noses, and two interlaced sets of my eyes, all of which are bound in a seven-petaled floret of arms. Using my body as the body of this work reflects they way that the fusiform gyrus, the part of the brain used for facial recognition, personifies environments and forms by detecting eyes and faces. -- source link
