useless-catalanfacts:I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of Carlos Ruiz Zafón, aged 55, who died today (19th June 2020) of cancer.He is one of the best writers, not only in Catalonia, but in the whole world.He wrote both in Catalan and in Spanish languages, and many of his books became world-wide bestsellers, leading him to be recognised as one of the leading figures of 21st century literature.His series The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, which take place in the post-war Barcelona of the early years of the dictatorship, are some of my personal all-time favourite books.
