eggsquad:Literally my math teacher abandoned today’s lesson because some kid brought his kitten to school i don’t even knowNot to be a buzzkill here, but there’s a reason pets aren’t supposed to come to school (or most public places) with you unless they are service animals. It’s not distraction. It’s the fact that lots of people are allergic to animals, and unlike most food allergies where you have to have contact with the food to get a reaction, animal allergens are quick to become airborne and remain on surfaces. Cat allergens can stick around for up to two weeks after the cat is gone even after the area is cleaned. So, while that kitten is cute, a person like me would have to leave the room immediately to avoid a major allergic reaction, and if I happened to sit at the table the cat was on the following period, not knowing a cat had been there before, I could go into an anaphylactic reaction from such close contact with cat allergens left on the table. TL;DR: Don’t do this. It’s a potential huge danger to others as well as a distraction from schoolwork. -- source link
