asheathes:WIZARDING SCHOOLS AROUND THE WORLD: CHINALocated deep in the Guilin mountains and shrouded in mist, the Chinese Institute of Magic boasts an intricate campus that rises from the nearby river and stretches so far up the mountains the top cannot be seen from the ground. Although the magical community of China is one of the most ancient and revered in the world, the Chinese Institute of Magic is relatively young in comparison. Traditionally, magic knowledge is passed through the family, or occasionally from master to apprentice. However, over a century after the institute was established (completely unintentionally by a witch who had travelled to Guilin to study a clan of dragons that had been roaming the rivers), formal schools began to rise in popularity. Every year, students don their colourful garbs come September for their return to school whereupon they are treated to spectacular opening festivities including a choreographed performance by combat professors which serves as the official kickoff for the institute’s bi-weekly martial arts dueling tournaments. Because the commencement of the school year coincides with the mid-autumn festival, mystery mooncakes are specially made for the opening feast. Rumour has it that every year one single mooncake is enchanted to guarantee a flawless school year for the student who is lucky enough to eat it, but professors as well as kitchen staff have repeatedly denied its existence as no existing spells can possible guarantee such a thing. -- source link
