kaptainandy:Babadook: spottedLast week I saw a Drag King do Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” while wearing a Babadook outfit! Note to readers: I’m a HUGE horror fan, and I liked the movie The Babadook, but I felt that it was WAY over-hyped. There are three scenes that are scary as hell, but otherwise I don’t feel it merits the “one of best horror movies ever” hype it’s gotten.I saw while browsing Netflix last month that the movie had been miscategorized as an “LGBT movie,” and I’ve followed the meme, so I get it. But I’m not feeling it. I have a feeling (and hope) that this meme dies down, since besides that random Netflix incident it makes no sense, there’s no connection to the community, and the movie is about fear, potential mental illness, and a monster. Pro-LGBTQIA? Not remotely. Let’s focus on why we’re here during pride month. TL;DR version: if you want to be a proud Babadook, go for it! But this pride fan isn’t feeling the Babadook as LGBTQIA+ icon.Backstory: The Babadook has became an unlikely gay icon for Pride month -- source link
