cardiophile: Media Type: Book and Movie Title: Let the Right One In (2008) Author: John Ajvide Lindqvist Rating: R Warnings: Blood, Gore, Pedophilia (book only), Rape (book only), Child Nudity Summary: Let the Right One In is a fantastic book about a vampire child and the boy she befriends. Though it is very graphic and dark, the young romance is beautiful and there are heart and blood references galore! Tomas Alfredson’s movie adaptation has no direct references, but I highly reccomend it. It’s in Swedish so if you don’t understand it you’ll have to read subtitles. It is less graphic than the book but is still very bloody. The soundscape in it is incredible; listen to it with your speakers turn up and you can hear everything down to the characters’ heartbeats in several key scenes. Notes: Make sure you watch “Let the Right One In”, directed by Tomas Alfredson, and not “Let Me In”, the American remake. The remake sucks. Also to note, the book’s title is sometimes translated as “Let Me In” rather than “Let the Right One In”, but there is no difference there. -- source link
