221bloodnun:Reminder to self about watching the special features when the blu-ray comes out, but I thought a few of you might be interested, and this is partially done for anyone that might not have seen Dr. Strange. They laced this thing with Sherlock references, which might help with the ARG. @worriesconstantly @intersexmycroft @teapotsubtext @ti-ori-seThe conversation above entails Dr. Strange offering Thor tea at the end of the film, which considering the fact it’s a copy of 221B, and Thor is in the place where John would normally be…Make your own deductions, but wait until you’ve finished reading the post. “Tea?” Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) asks as the camera turns to reveal Thor (Chris Hemsworth) seated across from him at the Sanctum Sanctorum. The God of Thunder quips, “I don’t drink tea.“ (He ends up with a magically refillable beer stein.) And the Cloak of Levitation being so much like Sherlock’s involvement with his scarves and coat. They even have Rachel McAdams as the former love interest (combining two characters that were originally in the comics), and she was Irene Adler in the Ritchie directed version of Sherlock Holmes, wherein Irene was Holmes’s love interest (along with Watson, arguably). Also, Benedict is influencing the timeline for the filming of movies with Dr. Strange in them. Marvel wanted him so much for Dr. Strange, that they delayed release to make sure they could have him. ( x ) As it happened, that worked out well for them in the box office. “Just as it seems that the fight has been completely lost, with the Sanctums destroyed, and Dormammu consuming Earth, Strange has an idea – a solution to the problem that gives Dormammu a nasty surprise in the form of… shudder… an equal match. But if it seemed like the argument between Strange and Dormammu was particularly frustrating or circular, there’s a good reason for it: Benedict Cumberbatch is playing both parts. That’s right, apparently Cumberbatch’s acting skill have become so refined, he’s no longer satisfied with playing just one side of a scene. But in reality, the actor floated the idea to director Scott Derrickson, wishing to perform the motion capture for the massive cosmic face of the supervillain. The idea of Dormammu taking a physical form just to converse with Strange – and it, therefore, reflecting Strange himself – worked for the director, and a different actor was found to supply the voice.“ ( x ) Yes, he is playing his own character’s nemesis, and it’s because the director took his advice. *queue deductions about the layout at the beginning of this post, and the conversation*I’m buying it, so that will be February 28th. Not available on Amazon Prime or Netflix. Might check it out on Redbox. Could buy it on iTunes, but it’s $20, and I’d rather have a hard copy. -- source link
