1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?I had a pot brownie in Amsterdam. It was both more than I could handle and one of the single most terrifying experiences of my life. I blacked out a lot, almost got lost in a Burger King, thought for a little while that we were in Italy, and ate so much food after I regained my motor skills. Totally worth it, but I’m never doing edibles again. 2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?I don’t really remember any resolutions I was making last year, but I feel like I’m always gradually trying to focus on making different things about myself better. One thing I think I’ve done a better job at is just calming the eff down about things haha. There’s still a ways to go though, spaz. I think the next thing I’ll work on is not being so negative about things. 3. Did anyone close to you give birth?Nope! Unless they’re doing a very good job of keeping it under wraps. 4. Did anyone close to you die?No, thankfully. 5. What countries did you visit?Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. 6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?A car! And a stronger sense of motivation. 7. What day from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? There have been so many amazing days in 2015, I don’t think I’ve ever had a happier year. I love the people in my life and all the time I’ve been able to spend with each of them. Any days that make the memory vault are best days because of them. 8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?My biggest achievement this year, through the help of friends, family, and mentors, was when I was given a job in the summer conference department at my university for the summer. From the very start of the daunting application process I had zero expectations of success, but before I knew it, I was in the uniform and working at one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever had. 9. What was your biggest failure?Honestly, there isn’t any singular mark on my year that I would see as a colossal failure. Just little failures through the year that I want to try and look at as motivation and reason to do better in my academics, in my work, and in my relationships. 10. Did you suffer illness or injury?Nothing but the occasional moments of injured pride. 11. What was the best thing you bought?I gotta say, I’m still pretty happy to have my iPhone4 that I bought myself back in April. It’s supposed to be an older model, but I don’t notice. It’s the nicest phone I’ve ever had and I don’t feel any want for a more recent model. 12. Whose behavior merited celebration? So many people. Sarah, Sara, Desiree, Matt, my parents, Gabby, my brother, my Chester friends. All for different awesome reasons. They’re friggen credits to their species. 13. Where did most of your money go?Travel!14. What did you get really, really, really excited about?Studying abroad. 15. What songs will always remind you of 2015?Heavenly Father – Bon IverRule the World – Walk Off the EarthAll I Want – Nicholas LimaFrom Gold – Novo AmorRollercoaster – BleachersOld 45’s - Chromeo16. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?Even happier. 17. What do you wish you’d done more of?Graphic design work.18. What do you wish you’d done less of?Being bored but feeling too tired to do something. It’s the rock bottom of pathetic. 19. How did you spend Christmas?I was with my family and friends in Illinois. It was such a great reunion and time after being away for the fall. 20. How did you spend New Years?I literally don’t remember. It wasn’t a busy or eventful day. Usually we have marathons, but my sister and I were flying back to Washington on New Year’s day, so it was a lot more low key. 21. What was your favorite TV program of the year?Jessica Jones.22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?Hate is such a strong word. I definitely met people that I decided I didn’t care for, but that’s as much energy as I’m willing to exert. 23. What was the best book you read?Clash of Kings.24. What was your greatest musical discovery?Novo Amor. Credit for introducing me must be given to my sister, Sarah. She always finds the best stuff. 25. What did you want and got?The opportunity to study abroad for a semester in England. 26. What was your favorite film of this year?Mad Max! 27. What did you get on your birthday, and how old were you?I turned 21. I got a blue flannel, my hair dyed, a pink flannel, and a cool little travel moleskin notebook. 28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? While I was abroad I very much missed my people back in Spokane and Ottawa. But I also could not stop thinking about fresh vegetables. I don’t know if you’re familiar with British cuisine, but they don’t deal with that kind of stuff. So probably just a couple of more carrots here and there would have been enough. 29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?Because of my study abroad experience, my personal fashion concept for a big chunk of the year was something I like to call Don’t Say Anything If You Saw Me Wear This Yesterday. This was also paired with I Found This in the Public Bathroom But I’m Still Wearing It. Also flannel. Always flannel.30. What kept you sane?My people. Also modern technology that allowed me to keep in touch with those people back home for the period of time I was abroad. Music, and Netflix. 31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?Anna Kendrick, that talented and quirky star fish. 32. What political issue stirred you the most?Regulations put on the female body. 33. Who did you miss? This year, everyone. I still miss Mikayla for still not living where I live. I missed my family and my Ottawa people when I worked in Spokane over the summer. I missed my Spokane people when I went back to Ottawa for a month before studying abroad. Then I missed both Ottawa and Spokane people when I was in England. This was an awesome year and I enjoyed being all these places. Missing people doesn’t taint my experiences, but it’s always nice to be reunited with the people you’ve thought of when you were away. 34. Who was the best new person you met?I met some awesome people while I was abroad. My favorite three would be Charlie, Justin, and Jenna. Such fun friends to spend the semester with. They were a big part of how great my experience was. I’m so glad to have met them all. 35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015:It’s okay to sometimes not know what you’re doing on whatever kind of size scale that might mean, cause that part passes, and I feel like I’m better for those moments. -- source link
