penfairy:I love this detail so much. When Max gives Furiosa his blood, one of the Vuvalini holds the needle in Max’s arm, while the Dag holds the other needle to Furiosa’s arm. It’s such a powerful symbolic moment. Her whole life, Furiosa’s been driven by the need to return to the Green Place, to find the Vuvalini, to be with her people again. She slowly worked her way up through the ranks at the Citadel until she was able to escape, and she took the wives with her as a fuck you to Immortan Joe, with any concerns about their welfare coming second. But when she finally makes it back, she discovers her home is gone. Her people have been all but wiped out. The Green Place doesn’t exist. Home doesn’t exist. Everything she’d pined for, struggled for, fought for, is gone. And all she can do is scream. Then the ragged stranger offers her hope. He makes her a map from his own blood and tells her, ‘This is your way home.’ Maybe the Green Place from her past doesn’t exist anymore, but in the future lies the possibility of a new Green Place, one that she can build together with the wives. She leads the charge, with everyone and everything relying on her. During the battle, she’s stabbed. And it just makes her angry. ‘I’m gonna need you to drive,’ she says to Nux. ‘I’ll get him out of our way.’She’s badly injured. She’s bleeding out. She knows taking on Immortan Joe will mean her death, but she doesn’t care. Because it’s not about her need to get to the Green Place anymore, and it’s not about her own revenge on Joe. It’s about killing Joe for them. It’s about finding the Green Place for them. It’s about protecting the people she loves. And if Cheedo the Fragile hadn’t confronted her fears by running into the arms of her enemy so she could pull Furiosa into the Gigahorse, if Toast hadn’t braved a loaded gun to throw off Immortan Joe’s equilibrium, if Max hadn’t fought an entire army so he could be there to catch her as she fell - if they hadn’t all loved her just as much as she loved them - she would have died killing Joe.And finally we come to this beautiful scene as she lies dying, surrounded by her new family. The wives touch her and whisper to her. Max gives her his name and his heart’s blood. The last of the Vuvalini presses the needle to his arm and Dag holds the other end to Furiosa’s veins. We watch as the blood, emblematic of the love they all have for her, passes from the hands of her old family and through the hands of her new family, filling her with life once more. Her whole life she’s been fixated on the past, pining to return to something that no longer exists. Now, at last, she has a future.By loving Max and the wives and by being loved in return, she is restored to life, and she’s able to make it home. -- source link
