A stained glass window in St. James Church, Sutton Cheney commemorating The Battle of Bosworth Field
A stained glass window in St. James Church, Sutton Cheney commemorating The Battle of Bosworth Field (Monday, August 22nd 1485) Today marks the 528th anniversary of The Battle of Bosworth Field that brought about the end of The Wars of The Roses with King Henry’s victory after 30 years and many battles between The House of York and The House of Lancaster. In this window you can see above both King Richard III (representing The House of York) and King Henry VII (representing The House of Lancaster) are their own respective roses (The White Rose of York and The Red Rose of Lancaster) and further above, inbetween both portraits we can see The Tudor Rose (sometimes called The Union Rose) which is a hybrid of both roses. Henry’s Mother, Margaret Beaufort, was part of The House of Lancaster, and his father, Edmund Tudor, was a member of The Tudors of Penmynydd, Wales. In January 1486, not long after the end of The Wars of The Roses, Henry married Elizabeth of York, which brought both The House of Lancaster together with The House of York, giving birth to The Tudor Dynasty (or The House of Tudor). -- source link
