By no means one of the best waterfalls in Japan, Doryunotaki ( 吐竜の滝 ) is still memorable, or has some sentimental resonance to me because my wife, Kozy, and I have come here several times over the last 15 years, whenever we sought to escape the heat of summer, by driving into the dairy highlands of Yamanashi. A short hiking trail follows a creek under a canopy of dense forest to the falls. The water and shade and elevation keep the canyon cool in the summer even when the valley where Kozy lives is humid hot.The first time we came with kozy’s younger sister, who wore high heels and good mask of make up (we tease her to this day for her this). The second time we came with photographer (and, at the time, our assistant) Ye Rin Mok and i dared to wade into the falls (which were bone chilling cold and I won’t ever do it again!), and now we have come again while showing our friend Sue around kozy’s home prefecture.Whenever I see pictures of this distinctive falls I think about the passage of time and how much our life changes from one Japan trip to another… -- source link
