Sarah sinking into to the warm nostalgic womb of our youth. She and I had never met in person though we talked about meeting to shoot for a few years. When she first got in the water I could tell she was a waterbaby like me. We grew up in the same county in California. I noticed that most of the people that i shot who also grew up there are abnormally comfortable in water. We spend a lot of time in pools in the sunny suburbs of Southern California from an early age i guess, so when we dive into a pool, even to this day, it like being a child again - diving down and sitting on the bottom calmly is our happy place. All this makes for a more enjoyable shoot. I don’t have to spend most of the time trying to teach a model to sink and not keep their mouth and eyes sealed tight, we can get to the business of making images (which is a terribly difficult thing underwater in and of itself without the addition of training a model to BE under the water).Palos Verdes, CA.
