A few months ago, I posted an analysis of the most common names of NYC taxi drivers. Here, I’ve repeated that exercise for active Chicago taxi drivers, which includes approximately 13k people. Unfortunately, the data for Chicago aren’t as clean – the order of the names is not consistent, and sometimes a comma is used to establish the order, but not always. So rather than guess which is the first, middle, and last name of each person, I’ve just graphed all names on the same plot. The results are similar to NYC in that variations of Mohammed have the highest frequencies (though the most common spelling of the name is different). Names like Ahmed and Ali appear to get a boost in Chicago compared to NYC, but that’s just because they are common both as a first and last name.Data source: https://data.cityofchicago.org/Community-Economic-Development/Public-Chauffeurs/97wa-y6ff -- source link
