The federal government provides quality ratings for every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home in the US. Each nursing home is given a score of 1 (worst) to 5 (best) for health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. These are then combined into an overall rating that uses the same scale.For this post, I’ve mapped the average overall scores by state (plus D.C.), and graphed the distributions. The best and worst locations are listed on the map.
