entertainment: Entertainment Spotlight: Chase Stokes, Outer BanksWe got the chance to sit down with Chase Stokes, who plays John B, the leader of the Pogue crew, in Outer Banks. Stokes landed his first acting gig on MTV’s The Inbetweeners, directed by Taika Waititi, followed by roles in Stranger Things, VH1’s Daytime Divas, Hallmark’s The Beachhouse, and feature film Between Waves. He will next star in the dramatic comedy Dr. Bird’s Advice For Sad Poets. Stokes’s philanthropic passions include raising awareness for women’s shelters for broken homes, education and policy advocacy for immigration, and ocean clean-up initiatives. In his free time, Stokes plays competitive ice hockey and is also a skilled musician having studied the guitar, drums, and piano. Check it out:Do you think that you’d be friends with John B. (why or why not)?I do think I would be friends with John B. We do have a lot in common, we both surf, we both like to drive around on boats, ride on boats… Um, yeah, we’re kinda outgoing, a little bit ridiculous at times, so, sure! I’d hang out with John B.Given the multitude of social impact causes that you care about, can we expect any storylines from Outer Banks that tie in with social impact in any capacity?Absolutely, yeah. I think we do a really good job of tying modern-day circumstances together in the show without making it a specific point. So it’s something after you see it you’re kind of like, oh my god, that’s what they’re talking about, and that’s a modern-day issue and things that we should be discussing in tv and film. I do think we do that, I do think it’s exciting that we do that in an organic way instead of being something that’s thrown in the viewer’s face. So, I’m super excited about that.Did you keep anything from set, or is there anything from set that you would like to keep?Yeah, uh, a lot of things! So…John B. wears a bandana all the time so I have…too many of those. And then I also stole his shoes, so I have John B.’s shoes. There’s a couple other things. I had one of the compasses…but, it’s somewhere, it’s hiding. Can you give us an out-of-context spoiler?No, I’m not gonna do it. I want to, I want to. Just watch the show! There’s a storm and it knocks out some power, so, if you’ve ever been without power, it kinda sucks. And…that’s all I’m gonna say.
