illalwaysbehere: tytywithasword: lohvur: In case you needed any more evidence that the trans rights activist movement is insane, maybe this failed ‘Interview with a TERF’ will do it for you. It tells young people that they never need to have difficult discussions that might make them uncomfortable – they can just complain of their feelings being hurt & have any further conversation censored. Note especially how a few commenters even said Olivia was expressing interesting, good talking points, but that simply didn’t matter because they didn’t want to hear or engage with it. They voted for this, it was clearly signposted in case they didn’t want to read it: some say they even felt bad for reading it & shouldn’t have, but rather than taking responsibility for their action of choosing to read it, they instead say it’s a reason it shouldn’t be up in the first place. Truly a toxic, close-minded movement.I can post the interview if anybody wants, but I’ve linked to the original thread if you want to read it there. Okay okay, let’s just calm down hereI see your points here, it was a bit over, but that’s social media tf did you expect, in fact I would probably be there too antagonizing this ass hat as well had I known about it, but, I will admit that if this person deserves anything, it’s a thorough deconstruction of these points. The main point here that I’m trying to get at here is that if free speech is truly free, then the people telling her off have the right to do so. In fact I’d think this would be a good lesson for terf above, that if you say shitty hateful things to people, they are going to say rude hatefull things back, that’s just how free speech works. Now, if you were a terf reading this, your response would go something like “she didn’t say it with any hate or bad intentions” and your completely right, she just happened to accidentally emotionally abuse 22k + people on Instagram. “But ty! What do you mean by that?” Well, heres the thing kids, when you tell someone that their feelings aren’t real, well, that is literally a text book example of emotional abuse. But to understand why exactly, we gotta dig a little deeper into the core of this bs issue and that starts with the definition of genderWhat is gender? Well that is an excellent question. Contemporary philosophy would define gender as the types of stylized actions a person takes, the way you walk, talk, eat etc. But in my opinion this is an easily rebutted idea, in two main ways. 1 - the unclear definition argument, that is to say that if gender is defined by stylized actions, then who is to say it does not apply to the manner in which all actions are taken, thus creating almost infinitely varied gender, making it a useless concept. 2 - the existential argument, which is that if gender is based only on actions, then it isnt really part of the self at all, thus making it only as useful and harmful as a stereotype. Furthermore, if this was even to apply to the self, then the same unclear definition rebutte would apply. So we’ve seen that gender is a useless concept, but what exactly does that mean for the question of being trans, what does that mean for this question; “if I feel like a women, does that make me a women?” And the answer, I can assure is a firm ‘doesn’t matter’. If we were to all for a moment except that gender is just a bunch of preconceptions about a person, then we would find no reason to not let one another participate in any of these actions that they feel comfortable doing, weather they’re meant for men or for women, and if a person is uncomfortable or unhappy in the the role they are assigned, and feel more comfortable in opposite role, who is to say they aren’t?So why is what this person said bad you might ask, well of you have been paying attention thus far, it should be obvious, this person told thousands of people that their feelings of discomfort in their gender role were not real or valid, pretty much same thing as telling someone their depression isnt real, or telling them their favorite food isnt actually like pasta they’re just fetishizing the idea of pasta. In conclusion, this is a total shit show, a terf was an asshole (duh), a gal on insta practiced bad journalism by not including rebbudles (which kinda pissed people off) and then the terf claimed that they definitely didn’t see that coming (yeah okay)Tldr: gender is a useless concept anyways so why does it matter. Fuck you fuck your mom fuck your dad (whoops! Already did that!) And good day Oh wow. You are also a perfect example of the cultist, immature, entitled, ignorant behavior of trans activists that OP was highlighting. It’s amazing the lengths y'all go to prove everything bad we say about you correct. Truly astonishing. -- source link
