Four Views of the Rhode Island Avenue Station (now Rhode Island Avenue-Brookland). WMATA Metrorail, Washington, DC, 1978. The first line to open, the Red line initially connected Farragut Seqare with Rhode Island Avenue. The Rhode Island Avenue Station was for a considerable time the end of the line until the Red line was eventually extended into the Maryland slurbs to Wheaton where it now terminates. The scene near this station is all but totally different as there has been considerable new construction, and the almost abandoned platform shown in 1978 is now crowded much of most days. -- source link
