trouble-in-tokyo: fandomriderx-1: bannedbookreader: fandomriderx-1: theflyingwonder: trouble-in-tokyo: Yup, just like Dick Grayson to run from a fight just because they’re superhumans. A classic Dick Grayson move. It’s not like he’s fought against superpowered people thousands of times. It’s not like him and the rest of the bat fam train specifically knowing that they don’t have the advantage against superhumans but still prove to be successful with their many other skills. It’s not like the whole essence of Dick Grayson is that he can kick your superpowered ass any day despite only being human. Nope, Dick Grayson is completely helpless and gives up just because of some superpowers. Sounds about right. what the fuck Ok you need to stop. You have taken a single panel out of context and are twisting its dialogue to suit your pointless nerd rage. Lets take a larger look at that particular page If you’ll read the whole thing, you’ll see that Dick was making a tactical retreat in order to get a chance to figure out how best to separate Donna and Garth. But even before then, Dick had made attempts to stop them. He just doesnt know how yet. And even before that, he’s analyzing their fighting styles and abilities. He just makes more progress on Garth as he’s encountered Garth before in this story. Dick knows he has the ability to take down superpowered foes, but because he’s in the middle of an abandoned beach with no one around, he doesnt have to worry about civilian casualties and can take a bit more time to observe and formulate a plan. This isn’t poor writing and cowardice, its Tactics 101. Oh shut up. Just shut up. It’s out nerd rage? You are just desperate to defend this mediocre comic for reasons unbeknownst to me. The book sucks. Plan and simple. None of the characters behave like they should. It’s boring as all hell. And a disgrace to everything Titans. We have ever right to be mad. Every right. Im not saying you have no right to be mad. The book certainly has its flaws. But attack it for the right reasons. Dick isnt being written badly here, its actually going rather well. He’s smart, analytical, and cheery at the right moments. As for the others, you’re basing your expectations on older versions of the characters who don’t exist in this universe. Yeah, Garth and Donna more aggressive and much more willing to kill, but they made it clear that these versions have experienced different lives than the one we knew. But thats about it so far. This is only the third issue, and because they’ve given us so many characters, no individual character is getting much focus, save for Dick, so Im not sure what these sweeping claims of OOC-ness are based on. And yes, this book can be considered boring or slow, but its a little thing called a slow build. This book is taking its time to tell the story, and giving us bits a pieces of what actually going on. I apologize for starting off harshly, I am just tired of people ripping to shreds the things I legitimately enjoy. Im certain you can understand that feeling. And lastly, how is this book a disgrace to everything Titans? Its bringing back a history that was erased and deemed unimportant years ago. If youre referring to your opinions on the books quality, theres been FAR worse books out there than this (see Titans V2 and Teen Titans V4). Okay hi there, OP here. First of all, I don’t appreciate how you started your argument insulting me? Is that necessary? I agree that I took the panel out of context. That’s kind of what happens when you post panels. However, the only thing that really affects my original argument is that Dick planned on returning. I’m not going to even get into how OOC the other characters are. First of all, he fought terribly. Dick is smart, you’re right, and he was observing their fighting styles from the start, and he knows from the beginning that Donna is an Amazonian. Why would he try to stop someone with superstrength with a rope and be surprised when it didn’t work? What really bothers me about the first panel is that it’s all for the purpose of following the “Oh shit, I’m out of here!” trope. He’s been watching their movements, he doesn’t need a break. Those may be some heroes’ tactics, but they’re not his. Dick Grayson loves the adrenaline, loves to fight in the moment, loves to prove people wrong about underestimating him. Dick has taken down members of the Justice League without breaks. This was all for the sake of a cheap laugh. Last thing, in the panel I posted, he says they both “outclass” him, and in the next panel which you posted, he says they are both “way beyond any human range of ability or strength.” I understand strength, but ability? If all superhumans are beyond humans’ abilites, why do nonhuman heroes stand a chance? Why is Batman able to stand equal to Superman and Wonder woman. Like I said, Dick Grayson has taken down several members of Justice League. He’s one of the most skilled martial artists in the world. He’s been fighting crime since he was 10. If anything, he outclasses them. I’m sorry I’m ripping apart something you love, as you said. Don’t let me stop you from enjoying this title. But just like you have a right to enjoy it, I have a right to criticize it. -- source link
