socialjusticekoolaid: Teenager is fatally shot at gas station in Berkeley 1 HOUR AGO • FROM STAFF REPORTS Update, at 2:20 a.m.: Police made at least arrests after protesters continued to confront officers at the scene. Explosive flashes were set off. It was unclear by who. A Berkeley police car was towed from the gas station. Earlier story: BERKELEY • A teenager was fatally shot late Tuesday at a Mobil gas station on North Hanley Road here. The victim was identified as Antonio Martin, 18, by his mother, Toni Martin. Toni Martin and others at the scene said Antonio was shot by a police officer. The body remained on the parking lot just in front of the Mobil gas station at 6800 North Hanley Road at about 1 a.m. Berkeley police cars were on either side. Crime scene tape ringed the gas station, which appeared to have security cameras that are trained on the parking lot. The scene is southeast of the intersection of Interstates 170 and 270. Several officers from the St. Louis County and Woodson Terrace departments were also at the scene. No authorities have commented on the shooting so far. A crowd of about 60 people also gathered at the scene. The crowd included ministers and some of the people who have been active in the protests related to the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, 18, by a Ferguson police officer in August. Toni Martin said her son was with his girlfriend at the time of the shooting. The girlfriend remained at the scene but declined to talk to a reporter. Details are still emerging, but the similarities to Mike Brown are stark. (Part 1) #staywoke Livestream -- source link
