thankyou-homestuck: Character Appreciation: Eridan Ampora. Eridan is quite possibly the most looked down upon troll out of the twelve, and taking one glance at him can tell you why: He can be whiny, he killed his love and her love just out of spite. But one can always pick out the things they hate in others as something they actually do themselves. Killing is a part of troll society, so stated by Vriska, so killing Feferi and Sollux was “right” in his mind. Seeing the girl you love totally breaking it off with you, telling you that you’re basically annoying and hard to keep track of suddenly can take a bit of a toll on anyone. Seeing who you love cut off ties with you, being happier with someone else and falling in love with them can be painful. Eridan reacted like any thirteen year old would; he overreacted. He acted like a child. He was struck by this harsh reality that he wasn’t enough for Feferi. That Feferi found someone elese. But in that mistake, Eridan taught us that when such a harsh event happens, you need not respond like a child. Remember; they are happy. Would you rather they are unhappy with you, or happy for life with someone else? It all boils down to growing up and caring for others instead of yourself. He met his own demise as well, and probably rightfully. We all have done something to another that we regret. We have all lashed out on someone that probably didn’t fully deserve it. We have probably felt the pain of someone leaving you for someone they think is better. In Eridan’s mistakes, we can still learn a lesson, and see that even though his actions can’t fully be justified, we can see where he’s coming from. Thoughts from others:Eridan, you poor baby. A lot of people hate you. I did, at one point. But…I can’t anymore. I’m not saying you’re some moe blob of sad submissiveness, and I dislike that representation of you. You wanted Feferi back. You didn’t want to die, and you didn’t want to die alone. You even said at one point that it was okay if Feferi didn’t like you like that. And I think that says a lot about you. I don’t fully agree with your methods, but I understand them. And that’s enough for me. sources: {x}{x} -- source link
