Shouldda’ gotten’ a Garmin,On Sept. 17th, 1944, British, American, and Polish paratroops began massive airborne drops into the Netherlands. The action was a part of “Operation Market Garden”, an attempt to push the Germans out of Holland and invade Germany.Major General Friedrich Kussin was the commander of the garrison at Arnhem, the main objective of Market Garden. During the battle he was traveling through the city to consult his commanders, being transported by a Citroen staff car driven by his personal aide. His driver made a wrong turn, heading straight for British lines, and they were ambushed and killed. Today the place Kussin was killed is called Kussin Junction. -- source link
