shinigamisuit:300iqprower: enecoo:It’s interesting how no one is actually refuting her, but are instead agreeing with her. It’s because she isn’t unjustified; she isn’t wrong to feel that way. Jalter was the best villain in part 1. I have and always will stand by that statement. A lot of people idiotic nasu fanboys say that she’s “fake/not a real alter” because she’s “really just the result of Gilles’ corrupted view” but there’s so much more to it than that. It’s not that she’s Gilles’s ideal, Gilles outright admits that. She’s simply a version he could comprehend. He just couldn’t understand how Jeanne, even as she was turned on and burned, could stand by her actions and want to see France prosper. She was so inhumanly saintly, ironically the thing that drew Gilles to her, that he couldn’t believe she could die like that content. He WANTED to see her snap, to see her turn and curse those who repaid her kindness with death. Jalter is that version Gilles wanted. A version where she despaired, where she cried out in agony, where she roared with hate. But it’s not a version JUST Gilles could understand. It’s a version ANYONE can understand. It’s a perfect example of why Avengers are such unbelievably compelling characters, and why so many people want avenger alts. They’re personifications of emotion more than anything else, of what makes people feel alive, feel understood, feel human to begin with. Dantes is a tale of revenge against those who took everything from him. Gorgon and Shinjuku are reflections of how humans are the real monsters. Salieri is a man whose life was destroyed by how others perceived him. None of them threw the first stone. None of them chose to be what they are. They were all created by humanity, be it theirs or everyone else’s. They all to some degree reflect the justification of retaliation, and none more than Dantes and Jalter. Jalter is an evil and corrupted version of Jeanne, yet it’s because of that exact change she’s so much more human. That’s why even with all her terrible actions you don’t want to say she’s wrong. That’s what makes her so beautifully tragic. ironically enough, jalter is probably much closer to the original, rougher, historical jeanne. it’s actually the throne’s version of jeanne that’s more fake. ruler jeanne IS inhumanly saintly, because she’s a jeanne made out of the romanticization of her legend. she shouldn’t exist any more than jalter -- source link
