okayodysseus: Modern Mythology: Dionysus “In a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom.” A modern Dionysus with eyes that belong to the night, but at a first glance, one can not see the darkness that pools beneath his skin. Cigarette smoke emits from his tongue and music from the tapping of his fingertips, from the movement of his chapped lips. Can he even be called a god, when he seems to transcend everything from the sweat on a bottle of beer to the galaxies that spin above him? Around him, mortal’s veins vibrate with ecstasy, their bones aflame, and for a moment, he makes all those around him feel as gods do, just for one night. They die as they lived as they never have before when he moves with the shadows and lights of the bar. From the counter, where lonely men whisper their despair with dead eyes and pale skin, to the floor, where the madness and the rush of their breath seems to be the only thing that matters in this world, they all know him, and the storm that arrives in the morning. He leaves a path of broken glass, beating hearts, and nights left for only the god to remember. -- source link
