thatkindoffeminist: power2thev:freeewheeling:causeknight:thenib:Matt Lubchansky. I wanna @ every single TERF on this site, you have no idea! I wish I could @ all of you but most of you refuse to listen!Sex Differences absolutely matter in sports, it’s not a matter of personal opinion. AFAIK, hrt does not impact several advantages/differences males have: such as greater larger lung capacity, muscle composition, etc etc. Here are two major reviews from this year in top journals:Transgender Women in the Female Category of Sport: Perspectives on Testosterone Suppression and Performance Advantage We report that the performance gap between males and females becomes significant at puberty and often amounts to 10–50% depending on sport. The performance gap is more pronounced in sporting activities relying on muscle mass and explosive strength, particularly in the upper body. Longitudinal studies examining the effects of testosterone suppression on muscle mass and strength in transgender women consistently show very modest changes, where the loss of lean body mass, muscle area and strength typically amounts to approximately 5% after 12 months of treatment. Thus, the muscular advantage enjoyed by transgender women is only minimally reduced when testosterone is suppressed. Sports organizations should consider this evidence when reassessing current policies regarding participation of transgender women in the female category of sport. How does hormone transition in transgender women change body composition, muscle strength and haemoglobin? Systematic review with a focus on the implications for sport participation In transwomen, hormone therapy rapidly reduces Hgb to levels seen in cisgender women. In contrast, hormone therapy decreases strength, LBM and muscle area, yet values remain above that observed in cisgender women, even after 36 months. These findings suggest that strength may be well preserved in transwomen during the first 3 years of hormone therapy. None of this even matter they are men and can’t change sex so it’s time we stop pretending and allowing them where they don’t belong to begin with! Let’s be realistic here: we’re not denying trans people their human rights. We’re just saying that trans people don’t get to claim to be something that they’re not by infringing on women’s rights. Women who are an oppressed group (conveniently missed off the picture above) and who had to fight for the rights of recognising marital rape, getting divorced, women’s sports, and female spaces. You’re comparing trans people to other oppressed groups using an argument that few people, and certainly not ‘TERFs’, use. Maybe you should start making logical arguments about why trans women get to infringe on women’s rights and spaces against their human rights and have that be called ‘protecting trans people’s human rights’. -- source link
